MADISON n Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle has approved a grant for La Crosse County to continue and improve rural public transit services.
La Crosse County will receive $277,404 in funding through the federal Supplemental Transportation Rural Assistance Program. The La Crosse County project is one of seven projects in Wisconsin to receive funding totaling $1.7 million.
This grant will allow the La Crosse County Aging Department to continue its third year of rural public transit service focusing on maintaining current routes, establishing a feeder route from Vernon County and a route from Trempealeau County to Holmen and Onalaska, and expanding outreach efforts.
