Vernon L. Vorbeck
HOLMEN — Vernon Lester Vorbeck, 55, of Holmen passed away Jan. 10, 2010, after a long battle with liver disease. He was born in Winona, Minn., Dec. 31, 1954, to Lester and Audrey (Ruehmann) Vorbeck. Vern worked as a deputy in the La Crosse County Jail for 27 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and had a great love of the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kari; two children, Renee and Ross; his mother, Audrey; and a sister, Lesy (Rick) Rustad of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holmen Lutheran Church, 228 Morris St. The Rev. Dan Henderson will officiate, and burial will be in North Beaver Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Road, Holmen, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Virginia "Ginny" Bernett
ONALASKA - Virginia "Ginny" Bernett, 91, of Onalaska passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Onalaska Care Center.
Ginny is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann (Dick) Ender of Milan, Mich., and Joan (Mike) Michalski of Lexington, Ky.; her stepdaughter, Sandy (Robert) Tracey of Holmen, Wis.; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three stepgreatgrandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Andy Schnurrer and Philip Bernett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Friday, Jan. 15, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Onalaska. The Rev. Greg Bohren will officiate. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Clare Health Mission.
