Irene P. Maxwell
ONALASKA — Irene P. Maxwell, 91, of Onalaska passed gracefully to God in La Crosse, after a short illness.
She was born in La Crosse, March 17, 1918, to Bert and Louise (Berlinger) Crawford. She grew up, attended school and worked in La Crosse until she married Joe Maxwell on April 22, 1955. She and Joe lived in Michigan and Arizona. Upon Joe’s death, Irene moved back to La Crosse, where she worked and retired from PepsiCo.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Louise Crawford; husband, Joe Maxwell; sister, Catherine Maxwell; daughter, Mary Jo Yehle; son, Dick Maxwell; son, Steve Maxwell; daughter-in-law, Julie Maxwell; brother-in-law, Benny Kaldunski; and good friend, Dorothy Valiquette.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Marie) Maxwell of LaSalle, Mich.; daughter, Pam (Rich) Peterson of Webster, Wis.; daughter, Irene (Al) Muenzenberger of La Crosse; son, Matt (Joan) Maxwell of Spring Lake Park, Minn.; sister, Mary Kaldunski of La Crosse; nephew, Jim Kaldunski; niece, Kathy (Peter) Tortorice; 24 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Onalaska. The Rev. Greg Bohren will officiate. Entombment will follow in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday at the church.

Frank “Shorty” R. Beach
ONALASKA — Frank “Shorty” R. Beach, 90, of Onalaska died peacefully Jan. 7, 2010, at Onalaska Care Center. He was born in Altoona, Wis., to Lloyd and Bertha (Forney) Beach Dec. 30, 1919. He was a World War II veteran having served in the infantry in Africa, Sicily and Italy where he was awarded a Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 1530 and was also a member of Key Mans Club and 25-year Club at Trane Co., where he worked for 31 years as a foreman before his retirement.
He is survived by one son, Johnny (Debbie) Beach of Onalaska; two grandchildren, Ryan Beach and Danielle (Ryan) Knoll; and three great-grandchildren, Hailey Beach, Luke Knoll and Cassidy Knoll.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Clara, who passed away in October 2008; his parents; and brother and sister, Harvey and Hazel.
According to his wishes, he will be cremated with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wis., at a later date.
