Reynold "Rainbow" W. Sjolander
ONALASKA - Reynold "Rainbow" W. Sjolander, 102, of Onalaska passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at Onalaska Care Center. He was born in Holmen on April 26, 1907, to Carl B. and Augusta (Svendsen) Sjolander. On Feb. 27, 1960, Reynold married Caroline (Haiden) Rogstad, and she preceded him in death in January 1995.
Reynold served the Onalaska community in many capacities. He was most proud of having served 50 years with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department. In 2007, the Onalaska Common Council recognized Reynold with a "Proclam-ation for Celebration of Life" because of his many activities on behalf of and in support of the community. Reynold was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, La Crosse, and a charter member of Onalaska Historical Society.
Reynold is survived by a stepdaughter, Caroline Rogstad (Mike) Saley; a sister, Evelyn Tabbert Price; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and a brother, Tillman.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse. The Rev. Laurie Weis will officiate, and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church.
Dickinson Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Diane R. Bierce
HOLMEN - Diane R. Bierce, 53, of Holmen died on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Rochester (Minn.) Methodist Hospital.
Diane was born Dec. 13, 1956, in Châteauroux, France, to Willliam and Jean (Weade) Parker. On May 1, 1981, Diane married David Bierce. She had worked at Century Telephone Co. for 20 years before retiring in 1996.
Diane will always be remembered for her drive and ambition to be active, and she enjoyed helping others. She was always proud of the accomplishments of her children and tried to take an active part in their achievements. Granddaughter Iris was cherished.
As a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Onalaska, Diane was proud to serve as a Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and enjoyed assisting the Shepherd’s Flock Preschool.
Although plagued by many medical conditions, Diane always pushed to be involved in many volunteer organizations. As a child’s advocate for CASA and foster parents, Diane tried to help those in need. Helping WAFER and other area food banks was important to her.
Diane will be sorely missed and is survived by her husband of 28 years, David of Holmen; children, Jeffrey Parker of St. Paul, David (Sarah) Bierce of Altoona, Iowa, and Anna Bierce of Anchorage, Alaska; her mother, Jean Parker of Onalaska; granddaughter, Iris of Holmen; two brothers, W. Allen (Janet) Parker of Waldorf, Md., and Mark (Sara) Parker of Oak Creek Wis., one sister, Patricia (Wesley) Friend of Germantown, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, William.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Onalaska. Pastor Donald Stein will officiate. Burial in Onalaska City Cemetery will be at a later date. Friends may call on the family at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of Onalaska, 907 Sand Lake Road, on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
The family has asked that memorials be directed to the Shepherds Flock Pre-School program at church.

ONALASKA — Miriam A. Pierce, 87, of Onalaska died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at Mulder Health Care Center, West Salem. Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
