The U.S. Postal Service offers some tips for stress-free shipping this holiday season.
Proper padding and adequate labeling and sealing are among the top tips to ensure packages get to their destination. If yours is one of the 16.6 billions packages, letters or cards delivered between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, take note of these simple steps:
All items should be wrapped separately and cushioned with bubble wrap, newspaper or foam peanuts. The USPS suggests closing and shaking the package to make sure items are sufficiently padded.
Be sure to mark "fragile" or "perishable" on the box if applicable. If you are re-using a box, cover previous labels before shipping. Always write the return address on your packages. It tells the Postal Service where to return mail that cannot be delivered.
Use only shipping tape to seal a package. Do not use string, cellophane or masking tape.
