Wershofen, whose talent presentation was a contemporary dance, loves to dance and hopes for a shot at a professional dance company after graduation. A brief interview with her was conducted from Misty’s Dance Unlimited, where she was assisting in a dance camp.

It was her connection with an older dancer, Miss Wisconsin Kristin Smaby, that drew Wershofen, a junior at Holmen High School, to enter the pageant. “Kristina got me into it and told me to go for it,” Wershofen said.
Wershofen, who won the Spirit of Miss America Award, is interested in being an active Miss Outstanding Teen beyond waving to the crowds at Kornfest. Her platform deals with promoting teen mental health.
“I want to be involved with the Great Rivers 2-1-1 and see if they can expand their services to teens by adding texting,” said Wershofen, the daughter of Jeff and Mary Lin Wershofen. “Now they counsel by phone but most teens use texting.”
The Miss Holmen Outstanding Teen pageant is one of at least six such events in Wisconsin and is an outgrowth of the Miss America program.
Other contestants were Alex Herber, Haley Hesselberg and Chelsea Dubczak, who was named first runner-up.
