Plans are again under way at Holmen Middle School for the annual summer band program that kicks off on Monday evening, July 13, with an informational meeting for prospective new students and their parents or guardians.
Any student entering the sixth grade at HMS this fall is eligible and encouraged to check out the band program, which is under the direction of Jeff Krauklis. Interested students entering seventh and eighth grade who would be new to the band program also are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and will be held in the HMS auditorium. The program and its expectations will be explained and area music retailers will discuss instrument rental and purchase options. There also will be an opportunity for questions and answers.
For anybody unable to attend Monday evening, the information will be repeated again the following day on Tuesday, July 14, at 1 p.m., in the HMS bandroom. Also on Tuesday, beginning students will be given the opportunity to try out various instruments by appointment between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
For seventh and eighth grade band members, the summer program begins on Tuesday, July 21. Schedules and letters are being sent to all of last year’s band members. Any member who has not received a mailing should contact the school office immediately.
If anyone has any questions regarding the HMS band program, they can contact the school at 526-3391. For Monday’s meeting, enter the building through the main front entrance. For Tuesday’s meeting and instrument fittings, park behind the school and enter directly into the band-room entrance.
