As Independence Day approaches, my thoughts turn to the extraordinary courage of our founding fathers, who, along with only a handful of their neighbors, decided to fight against the tyranny of an oppressive government and declare their independence.
This year I encourage you to join me and re-declare your independence from oppressive government. Refuse government assistance of all kinds and refuse to do business with anyone who relies on handouts. We don’t need micromanaging, government-worshippers in Washington and Madison telling us how to live our lives.
Don’t fall for their attempts to pit the working class against the wealthy. They use economic hardship as an excuse to give more power to government while they demonize capitalism and those of us who take care of ourselves. They assume that poor Americans will always be in that condition and ignore the fact that in the United States of America, everyone who is willing to work hard can become anything they desire.
In truth, the modern liberal philosophy rewards laziness while the modern capitalist philosophy rewards hard work. Which is more fair in your opinion?
I grew up in southwestern Wisconsin near Kieler. Everyone I knew experienced some hardship, but most of us knew that it was our freedom and hard work that gave us the ability to rise above our circumstances. It is an incredible insult for liberals to assume that people who are poor today will always be stuck in that status. Just get out of our way and watch what we can do!
The point of my rambling is to help you realize that government programs are not the “easy button” for the problems you may be experiencing in life. As a matter of fact, the more government interferes in our lives the worse our problems become. I encourage you to refuse government programs. If you need help, look to your friends and neighbors, not a cold-hearted bureaucrat.
There was a time in this nation when we all knew our neighbors and helped each other. Today, thanks to government-worshipping programs, we barely know each other and don’t care because we assume a government program will help.
This Fourth of July, join me and re-declare your independence.
