My husband and I attended an AARP-sponsored community conversation in Black River Falls on June 23. The AARP campaign is being held across Wisconsin to ensure that everyday Americans have a voice and direct involvement in our country’s health-care reform efforts. In our current system health care costs too much, wastes too much and leaves too many without care.
Although attendance was small, opinions were diverse and a healthy open discussion took place regarding proposals for health-care reform. All participants agreed that health-care in America is a concern. The degree of concern and how to most effectively create change was the focus of discussion.
Historically, political gridlock has stood in the way of real action on health-care reform. Politicians, businesses and individuals need to come together and work cooperatively to resolve the health-care problems our country faces. In doing so we will be able to provide affordable health care to all of our citizens.
