William Kent Holloway
William Kent Holloway, 58, of the town of Holland died Monday, June 29, 2009, surrounded by his family at home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1951, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Keith and Beryl (Vanderbush) Holloway. On June 2, 1979, he married Holly Gwyn Heitz in Sargent, Neb.
After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, Bill was hired at the G. Heilman Brewery in 1971 and worked there ever since, with the exception of a few years after the brewery failed. Willie and his wife, Holly, were proud supporters of Holmen athletics. Having three boys participating in sports, everyone knew they could count on Willie to volunteer in whatever capacity the athletic programs needed. Golf was a passion in Willie’s life, having just completed a golf trip to Arizona. Although his family and friends were the most important part of Willie’s life, they would be followed shortly after by this man’s best friends, his Labs. “If Willie was down to his last penny and you needed it — he would have gladly given it to you.”
He is survived by his wife, Holly, his sons, Tyler (Erica) Holloway of Gilbert, Ariz., Travis (Gina Kay) Holloway of Avondale, Ariz., and Drew Holloway of La Crosse; his sister, Mary Beth (Robert) Bilskemper of Onalaska; his brothers, Thomas (Renae) Holloway of Janesville, Wis., and Allan Holloway of Bailey, Colo.; his nieces, Jenna Bilskemper of Spring Valley, Wis., Kelly Holloway of Chicago, and Liz (Ryan) Jones-Anderson of Broken Bow, Neb.; and his nephews, Justin Bilskemper of Oregon, Wis., Chris (Kari) Jones of Broken Bow and Jeff (Melanie) Jones of Miller, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Onalaska Church of Christ, 1415 Well St., Onalaska. Military honors and interment will follow at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will take place Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Road, Holmen, and again on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until services at Onalaska Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Holmen High School Athletic Department; 1001 McHugh Road, Holmen, WI 54636.
