Frances J. Steinbronn, 72, of Holmen, formerly of Denver, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Holmen.
Frances was born Dec. 16, 1936, the daughter of Frank and Wilma (Blair) Schug in Carroll, Iowa. She was baptized March 21, 1937, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Sac City, Iowa, and confirmed on June 30, 1950, also at St. Peter Lutheran Church. In 1954, she graduated from Sac City High School. Frances then attended Lutheran School of Nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1960. On March 6, 1960, she was united in marriage to Donald Steinbronn at St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Sac City. Fran then embarked upon her 40-year nursing career. She began at Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa, practiced 30 years at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, and just prior to her retirement, she worked with Universal Pediatric Home Care.
She was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Denver. Frances enjoyed crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. Fran provided great care and comfort to many individuals throughout her life, as a mother, nurse, wife and friend. She will always be remembered for her concern for others above herself.
Survivors are her husband, Donald Steinbronn of Holmen; three daughters, Sheryl (Mike) Jacobson of Holmen, Diane Steinbronn of Boise, Idaho, and Nancy (John) Rowell of Middleton, Idaho; son, David (Kim) Steinbronn of Bettendorf, Iowa; five grandchildren; her mother, Wilma Schug of Mason City, Iowa; three sisters, Shirley Zobel of Mason City, Sandra (Curt) Chilson of Mount Horeb, Wis., and Vicki (Steve) Schug of Bloomington, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Schug.
Funeral services were June 15 at St. John Lutheran Church in Denver. Burial followed in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences for Fran may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
