Franciscan Skemp Healthcare will open its new Holmen Clinic today. The new facility will expand from 7500 square feet at its current location to approximately 20,000 square feet.
Core services would include family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, pharmacy and an outreach suite to bring select specialty services to the community.
Altra Federal Credit Union and Franciscan Skemp Healthcare announced a partnership last year to purchase land located at the intersection of Holmen Drive and Hale Road in Holmen.
“We are pleased to partner with Altra on the land purchase,” said John Nemec, Vice President of regional services for Franciscan Skemp Healthcare. “We had outgrown our current facility in Holmen and had been in need of additional space to expand services and meet the healthcare needs of this growing area. We are committed to the Holmen and surrounding communities and we’re excited to be planning expanded services for our patients.”
As part of the construction process, Franciscan Skemp Healthcare incorporated “green” or sustainable building principles. Franciscan Skemp worked with LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) architect Doug Ramsey, from HSR Associates, Inc., on a whole-building approach to sustainability.
“We focus on five areas of human and environmental health n sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, material selection and indoor environmental quality,” says Ramsey.
Other facts about the new facility include:
There will be 21 (an increase from 13 in the current clinic) exam rooms and 2 procedure rooms as well as lab and radiology suites
An outreach suite will be added at a later date to bring specialists to Holmen. Services upon opening will be family medicine, pediatrics and a full-service pharmacy to soon follow. There will be six providers and one pediatrician, and three Behavioral Health specialists.
Hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
