An Onalaska man furious the computer he bought at a garage sale didn’t work is accused of attempting to hit the sellers with his vehicle.
Michael Young, 56, bought the computer Friday at a garage sale in the town of Holland and returned to the home Sunday threatening to call police because the computer did not work, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in La Crosse County Circuit Court.
“He was so angry about the computer, he wanted to take a baseball bat and smash it on someone’s head,” the complaint said.
The seller refused to refund Young’s money and asked him to leave.
Young started to back the car out of the driveway but floored it toward the sellers as they walked to their garage, stopping the vehicle 2 feet short of impact, the complaint said. He then reversed the vehicle and fled.
Young told officers his vehicle’s clutch was dysfunctional and he did not attempt to hit the men.
He was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of disorderly conduct.
Young’s case was continued to June 19 to hire an attorney. He released Tuesday on $2,500 signature bond.
