The following log is based on reports from the Holmen and Onalaska police and fire departments.

Onalaska Police Department
Sunday, Jan. 25

8:26 p.m. — A 61-year-old man reported someone tried to steal his car from his driveway on the 400 block of Fourth Avenue North but got stuck in a snowdrift at the end of the driveway. The man said he left the keys in the ignition.

Monday, Jan. 26

10:57 a.m. — The owners of Apples to Zebra Day Care on Main Street reported receiving suspicious e-mails from someone claiming to be a model in the United Kingdom being sent to the area for work and inquiring about the facility, the type of care provided and the cost.

2:26 p.m. — After being identified as the person who drove away from Kwik Trip on Highway 16 without paying for $11 worth of gas, a La Crescent woman was cited for the theft and arrested for fifth-offense driving after revocation.

7:21 p.m. — A La Crosse man is wanted in connection with a domestic dispute at Target. The man reportedly was smoking marijuana and arguing with his girlfriend about money for the marijuana. He tried to grab the steering wheel of the car and the woman stopped the car and ran into Target. He has reportedly threatened her with physical harm in the past.

Tuesday, Jan. 27

4:42 p.m. — A 20-year-old Mauston, Wis., man was arrested for retail theft for attempting to steal a bottle of cologne worth $8.99.

6:32 p.m. — While working online on her taxes, a 27-year-old woman noticed money had been withdrawn from her checking account which she did not recognize or authorize. A company named USA Benefits was deducting $19.95 from her account per month. When she called the number and gave her identifying information, the company realized it was not the person who opened the account, who had an address in Rochester, MN, and the bank had been deducting from the account for two years.

8:19 p.m. — A 27-year-old woman reported someone broke into her apartment on the 1100 block of 10th Avenue North and stole a flat screen television worth $2,000. The burglar had broken in through her bedroom window.

Wednesday, Jan. 28

11:30 a.m. — A 40-year-old woman reported someone stole checks from her business checking account and cashed three checks for a total of $458. She and her husband own a business in Onalaska. They suspect an employee on probation for theft and forgery.

Thursday, Jan. 29

11:21 a.m. — A 51-year-old woman reported someone stole a $588 gold bracelet from her home on the 600 block of Grove Street. She suspects it was someone from the cleaning company that comes into her home because they were recently arrested in connection with two other burglaries in Onalaska.

12:23 p.m. — A 27-year-old man was arrested for battery, false imprisonment and strangulation after beating up his girlfriend when she wanted to take her computer printer back to her home in West Salem.

6:15 p.m. — A 68-year-old man on the 1700 block of East Avenue North reported someone fraudulently used his identity to set up an account with Sprint for a cell phone he never authorized.

Friday, Jan. 30

1:42 p.m. — A manager at Home Depot reported someone stole the license plate from a flat-bed trailer leased by Home Depot.

7:08 p.m. — A 24-year-old Sparta woman reported buying a new computer from the Wal-Mart store in Onalaska and upon bringing it home, found the computer required a password and the serial number did not match the number on the box. She suspected someone had switched an old computer for a new computer and took it back to Wal-mart. She was told it was not their problem, that she had to take it up with the manufacturer. Upon calling the police, Wal-Mart said they would exchange the computer with a new one and turned it over to police for investigation.

Sunday, Feb. 1

2:51 a.m. — A 29-year-old man was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct after an altercation at his girlfriend’s home on the 1200 block of Green Bay Street in Onalaska.

Monday, Jan. 26


12:30 p.m. — Police assisted a 19-year-old woman on the 1600 block of Cliffview Drive who had a seizure, hit her head and was bleeding from the head and mouth.

12:53 p.m. — Police responded to a home on the 600 block of Amy Drive where a man was banging on a door to an apartment he did not reside at, yelling and refusing to leave.

5:33 p.m. — Police assisted a person who possibly had a stroke at Prairie Home Residence for Seniors on the 600 block of Malin Court.

11:59 p.m. — A 29-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and domestic disorderly conduct after an altercation with his girlfriend who was pregnant with his child. The victim said she found a pipe and knew that the boyfriend was smoking drugs and she wanted him to get help and wouldn’t return the pipe. He became angry and started to yell at her and grab her. When police arrived, she was in a fetal position on the floor and he was trying to kick her. He admitted to smoking marijuana and methamphetamine.

Thursday, Jan. 29

8:27 a.m. — A 39-year-old La Crosse man was arrested on the 300 block of Ponderosa Drive for a felony warrant for a sexual offender violation.

Friday, Jan. 30

5:42 p.m. — Police were called to the high school after a student’s parents caused problems when they and their daughter were harassing a student in the parking lot. They were upset because their daughter was made ineligible for the dance team.

6:37 p.m. — A 44-year-old woman reported receiving threatening phone calls from her ex-husband’s wife.

Saturday, Jan. 31

1:49 p.m. — An employee at the Holmen BP station reported a gas drive-off of $18.

1:54 p.m. — A 54-year-old man reported seeing a car strike his mailbox on the 300 block of McHugh Street and then drive off. It appeared the driver of the vehicle was on the wrong side of the road against traffic and struck the snowbank and mailbox.

10:07 p.m. — An employee at the Holmen BP reported a gas drive-off of $5.02.

Sunday, Feb. 1

7:03 p.m. — Police assisted a woman on the 700 block of McHugh Road who had fallen outside her home and hit her head.

9:52 p.m. — A 45-year-old woman was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim after an altercation on the N8200 block of Amsterdam Prairie Road. The couple had been out drinking and got into an argument and she broke his cell phone when he tried to call police.

Tuesday, Jan. 27

1:02 a.m. — First responder call on 12th Avenue South for a person with a diabetic problem.

4:38 a.m. — First responder call on Quincy Street for a person with chest pains.

7:01 p.m. — First responder call on Pierce Street for an alcohol-related incident.

Wednesday, Jan. 28

9:58 a.m. — Fire call on Pierce Street for a carbon monoxide incident.

2:19 p.m. — First responder call on Winter Street for a person experiencing stomach pain.

2:36 p.m. — Fire call on Crossing Meadow Drive for a strange odor.

6:56 p.m. — First responder call on Ninth Avenue South for a person who passed out.

Thursday, Jan. 29

9:10 a.m. — First responder call on Main Street East for a person possibly having a stroke.

Friday, Jan. 30

1:11 p.m. — Fire call on Main Street that was cancelled en route.

4:16 p.m. — First responder call on Second Avenue North for a possible suicide attempt by overdose.

9:14 p.m. — First responder call on Main Street East for a person experiencing weakness.

Saturday, Jan. 31

8:19 a.m. — Fire call on Scenic Drive for a good intent call.

8:00 p.m. — First responder call on Pierce Street for a person having a diabetic problem.

Sunday, Feb. 1

12:15 p.m. — Fire call on Oriole Lane for a cooking fire.

4:40 p.m. — Fire call on Oak Avenue South for a natural gas problem.

5:44 p.m. — Fire call on La Crosse Street for a natural gas problem.

Monday, Feb. 2

6:30 a.m. — First responder call on Eighth Avenue South for an unresponsive person.

11:34 a.m. — Fire and first responder calls on highways 35 and Z for a motor vehicle accident with injuries and requiring extrication of victims.

12:27 p.m. — First responder call on 16th Avenue South for a person experiencing weakness.

2:11 p.m. — First responder call on Kristy Lane for a person experiencing rectal bleeding.

3:05 p.m. — First responder call on 13th Court for a person injured in a fall.

4:41 p.m. — First responder call on Mason Street for a person bleeding from the head.

5:51 p.m. — First responder call on the N7700 block of Bluffview Court for a person with an unknown medical problem.

Monday, Jan. 26

8:13 a.m. — First responder call on the W7100 block of Highway T for a person having a seizure.

12:30 p.m. — First responder call on the 1600 block of Cliffview Drive for a person having a seizure.

5:33 p.m. — First responder call on the 600 block of Malin Court for a person having a stroke.

9:23 p.m. — First responder call on the 300 block of State Street for an unresponsive person.

11:01 am. — Fire call on the 1000 block of Remington Drive for a carbon monoxide incident.

10:25 p.m. — First responder call on the W6300 block of Highway T for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Friday, Jan. 30

10:18 a.m. — Fire call on the W7400 block of Kip Street for a carbon monoxide incident.

10:38 p.m. — First responder call on the 1600 block of Cliffview Drive for a person with an unknown medical problem.

Saturday, Jan. 31

2:48 p.m. — First responder call on the W6300 block of Highway W for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

5:27 p.m. — First responder call on the 1500 block of Holmen Drive South for a person injured in a fall.

5:41 p.m. — First responder call on the 100 block of Debbie Lane for a person with a laceration.
