My son and his unit are leaving in January for a year tour in Iraq. Family, friends and my clients are so supportive with prayers and generous in their own public and private ways, and yet they keep asking “what can I do?”
Well, I thought of something. I’d like to see how long of a list I can send off with my son of individual sacrifices we are willing to make. Commit to one thing for one year starting Jan. 1, 2009. No one will be policing you; it’s your choice. It’s kind of like a New Year’s resolution with a face in mind. This is about any soldier fighting for us, not only my son or his unit.
This is a great way for a whole family to support our troops together. Any age can join in. Mention this to family, friends, co-workers, youth and church groups if you want.
As for me, I’m a pasta and potato junkie, so that will be my sacrifice.
Send me your individual sacrifice, with or without your full name, e-mail or address, and I’ll add it to the list. Just a first name and the sacrifice are even great. If you want to do this on your own silently, it is still a sacrifice, and I thank you.
Send your sacrifice to wacqui@charter.net, or Jacqui Streicher, 343 Fourth Ave. N., Onalaska, WI 54650.
